After moving to Giverny in 1883, Claude Monet devoted himself to the rural surroundings. Here he guides the viewer’s gaze over the high-growing grasses to the playing children. There are numerous things to intrigue the senses in the meadow. The painter makes the blades of grass tangible for viewers. The grass retains the light and warmth of the spring day and evokes the fresh smell of a meadow landscape.
