Oil on canvas, 46 x 55 cm
Signed lower right: Raoul Dufy
Inv.-no. MB-Duf-02
Raoul Dufy turned his view to the pier in this painting of the beach in Le Havre. Unlike the Impressionists, Dufy’s beach scenes are no longer illuminated by the variable light of a cloudy sky. Dufy’s skies are rendered in an impenetrable blue devoid of atmospheric qualities.
